You're right. I was raised in one of those American cultures that sees illness as a weakness, to be ashamed of and hidden and such. And while that would never prevent me from getting vaccinated or seeing a doctor, I still get this guilty feeling when I'm sick, especially if it causes inconvenience for others. But you're right, I shouldn't feel that way. Everybody gets sick from time to time despite best efforts.
