Another beautiful train run!
I spent a lot of time on the vestibule again :)

Got this really cool pic of a bridge before passing underneath.
I love how the shadow almost continues the line of the bridge.


On the second day I woke up around 9am, surprised at how dark it was.
Then I heard another train go by, and realized that we were parked in a tunnel!

Passing through a small town called La Grange, we received a very warm welcome.
The tracks run right down the town's main street!
People came out of their offices and stores, excited to see the circus train.
They lined the streets, waving, taking pictures, and shouting.
That was a pretty cool feeling!



Trainspotters:


As soon as we were spotted in Louisville, Jerome and Catfish and I walked to the nearest point of interest,
a Hooters knockoff about two miles from the train. I wasn't hungry but it was nice to get off the train and enjoy
the weather and the exercise with friends :)

On Wednesday I went exploring with Cindy and Eryn (teachers).
We started off by checking out the view on the Ohio River:


Then we strolled down Market and Main Sts., visited various gift shops, saw the Louisville Slugger Museum and a Craft Museum (but didn't take the tours), and sat on the observation deck at Glassworks to see people making award paperweights for a local company.

The Kentucky Derby is only a week away. There are derby hats in almost every shop.
Our explorations ended with dinner at Gordon Biersch on 4th St. Good stuff!

On Friday I explored solo, visiting Joe Ley Antiques first.
I did not buy anything, but it was super fun to look! They had lots of large items, like
fortune-telling machines, carousel horses, stained glass windows, and vintage bikes.
On the same street I found thrift stores and gift shops. It was a fun day of window shopping.
On the way back I paused at Cake Flour bakery to grab a loaf of bread. And this opera cake
snuck into my bag as well...

Lest y'all think I'm a piggy for eating this whole thing...approx. size is 3" x 1" x 1.5" of deliciousness :D

The bread is just called Hearty Bread and contains wheat, corn, flax, agave, and walnuts.
It's lighter than it looked and tastes wonderful.
The bakery website suggests making grilled cheese with it, so I'll have to try that out.
I think it would taste GREAT with bananas!


On Saturday we had three shows. Louisville is having a Derby festival currently, and there
are lots of activities going on, including a marathon that happened to finish right as we were
heading to work! We had to scoot across the street between the runners :D


On Sunday we only had one show, a rare treat!
Next we're headed to Providence, RI, and if we arrive on time we'll have a day off!!
