Since people seem to be deciding whether or not to stay on LJ or leave, here's what my very insignificant blog is doing, if anyone's wanting to know.
I will continue to crosspost here and on DreamWidth.
I see nothing indicating any political propaganda on LJ's main page.
As for the ads, it is 2022 and if you don't have at least one adblocker enabled, what the hell are you doing online.
Any basic, free blocker will prevent you (or your guests) from having to see ads.
And if you are too lazy to install an adblocker you are probably too lazy to read my long-ass posts anyway :p

I have seen no evidence that LJ, SUP Media, or Rambler have done anything to warrant boycotting them.
Obviously if it comes out that they're propaganda machines or doing evil deeds or whatever, at that time I'll consider leaving LJ.
But as of right now, Russia's war will not be helped nor harmed by me posting food pictures here.
Nor by "the principle" or "implications" of staying here.

Also, kind of off subject,
I have both Russian and Ukranian friends.
My neighbors in my tiny hometown are Russian.
They helped us a great deal when my dad passed away in October.
My parents went to their son's wedding.
Most of the aerialists in the circus were Ukranian.
Some were working on citizenship, some had aspirations to go back home and get degrees and improve their own country.
PUTIN and his government does/do not represent all of Russia or all of its people or all of its businesses.
If I start discriminating and boycotting blindly just because something is Russian, that makes me no better than the people who put my Japanese-American relatives in concentration camps during WWII. It's not fair, it's not right, and I do not want to punish uninvolved parties for things that they don't support and didn't do.
People are about to be suffering enough without my hammer hitting that nail, tiny though my hammer may be.

In closing,
This is not a criticism of people who are dropping LJ.
Do what you need to do, obviously, and all respect to you for rocking your values.
I'm just stating mine.
