Hmm, let's see.

Monday, normal. I went to work. Jameson went to rehearsal. For once I didn't have anything scheduled at night so I spent it enjoying a little down time and making to-do lists.

Tuesday, more of the same. There's really nothing interesting to say about work at the moment. The big excitement was getting access to the company gym, and getting an oil change during the lunch break. After work both Jameson and I had rehearsals, so we didn't see each other until late.

Wednesday...more of the same. After work Jameson and I had pizza and salad, and played The Room: Old Sins until Jameson had to teach his online courses. Have you played The Room games? They're just so stinkin' awesome. If you love puzzle games, mysterious-looking boxes, and gorgeous game design, you really need to check this series out.

On Thursday...you guessed it, more work. Jameson was at the office today, so after we were done he offered to take me to dinner. He's such a sweetheart...I am lucky <3 He took me to Tibby's, a restaurant known for NOLA food. Especially the po'boys. I got an oyster po'boy with the house remoulade, while Jameson went for a chicken-and-waffle sandwich that looked fantastic and tasted even better. The food and the atmosphere were great, just what we both needed after a stale old work week :)

Finally Friday came. I went to work expecting another day of fretting at my desk.

Look at this!! Our department has a "fun committee" that decorates employees' desks on their birthdays! Balloons hanging from the ceiling, happy birthday signage, confetti EVERYWHERE. How nice!!

Jessica, who is one of few people I've gotten to know a bit around here, gave me a present. See that Winnie-the-Pooh statuette? That's from her :) She also gave me a beautiful card. As a new person who has trouble making friends, I am very grateful for her friendship and caring.

The rest of the day was fairly normal, I just did my work among the balloons and glitter :) During my lunch break I decided to take a shot at the company gym. I'd like to begin exercising at least twice per week. I was the only one in there and was able to get in the time I wanted without being late for the second half of the day. After work I went home and enjoyed a chicken veggie dinner that Jameson had made for us :)

On Saturday Jameson had a casting call for his own rock musical, called Torment. (isn't that freakin' cool??) While he was out vetting cast members, I cleaned up a bit, had a nice breakfast, and watched Stranger Things 2. When casting was finished we made our way over to House of Blues in Disney Springs, because Jameson had gotten us tickets to see the Spazmatics! One of Jameson's friends was in both the Spazmatics and the opening band (Metal Shop). Both bands are spoofs on popular 80s themes: Metal Shop is an 80s hair band and Spazmatics is a bunch of nerds playing 80s music. We settled in behind the sound board and enjoyed the show.

Here's a clip from the show from someone who was a lot closer than me, down in the mosh pit. Both bands were hilarious and a lot of fun!

Sunday...was my birthday! Jameson took me to King Bao, a restaurant specializing in Korean bao. Neither of us had been here before, but it had great reviews and ever since we enjoyed bao in DC I've always wanted to have it again. We were not disappointed!!

There were so many different kinds! I chose Japanese-style curry cutlet, sweet potato croquette with corn hash, and Korean short rib with pear salsa. Jameson had thick-sliced braised pork belly with daikon carrot slaw and peanuts, Maryland crab cake with Old Bay mayo, and coconut shrimp with corn slaw. Separately each bao was about $3.50. They also had lunch specials for $7-$9, and limited-time flavors for just a little more than the regular price. AND they have dessert bao! We didn't have room for dessert this time, but maybe next time (and there WILL be a next time!!!).

Full and happy, we went home to relax for a bit before moving on to all the boring adult stuff we've got to do for the week.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to wish me happy birthday today, by facebook and phone, message and text. I am not the most social person and don't keep in touch much, and for that reason it means even more to me that so many of you would think of me today. Thank you all very much. <3

This is the first birthday in a while where I haven't gotten pied by those sneaky clowns :p A bit of birthday fun that I miss, and look back on fondly.

The rest of my birthday was spent relaxing and preparing for the week ahead. I cooked chicken, burned some quinoa (oops) and got some clothes ready for work. Jameson had another rehearsal for Hunchback, and while he was gone I watched bits of the Super Bowl and practiced.

Well...I'm another year older. And there's a long way to go yet (I hope). I'm grateful for the opportunities that I have, and the people in my life.
