Normal Week
Apr. 6th, 2019 09:52 amSaturday! We had a nice slow morning and went to see "Us". It was good...but honestly, very predictable. Like pretty much the whole plot is revealed 10 minutes in. Oh well...we still had fun :)
Afterward we had a nice dinner together, and went to see some of Jameson's bandmates playing at Rock n' Blues. It was a Saturday night so it was pretty crowded, but we were able to get a table. Several Disney cast member friends were there. It was too loud to talk but it was nice to see everyone and hear some rockin' classic rock!
We left relatively early because Jameson is playing for the Guardians of the Galaxy band auditions at Disney tomorrow.
Sunday, Jameson had to get up bright and early. He'll be playing for auditions all day! I don't know how that guy does it without coffee ;D
I couldn't sleep after he left. I was thinking about all the musicians who will be auditioning today, and how I don't get to participate in this one. Please understand, I'm happy for everyone and glad that there are opportunities still out there for live musicians. It's just that, you know...I want opportunities too! And lately I feel like finding gigs is like looking for a specific grain of sand in the desert.
Anyway, ugh, whatever. It was a very nice day and I have nothing to complain about. I had breakfast and got to work making sous vide egg bites! This is something I've been excited to try since sous vide became an option! I cooked some peppered bacon, chopped some jalapenos and spinach and tomatoes, measured out some cheese, and got to work!

They turned out great! These will be great to pack in lunches this week. And Jameson can have some too :D
I cleaned the house a bit, and went thrifting in the evening before Jameson got home. Didn't find a whole lot, but it was nice to look.
When Jameson got back he told me all about his day of auditions, it sounded like an awful lot of people showed up for them. Hopefully everyone had a good experience regardless of the outcome.
Work on Monday was stressful. It was our first time on the actual call floor, taking actual calls. But before that, we had a meeting to go over the company's confidentiality policies and other workplace information. I think that got us into a tense vibe, because there are just so many ways that you could easily make a mistake here.
From there we went to the call floor and got started. We were carefully monitored the entire time, which is great because we're still in training and we want to be doing a good job. But personally, having someone watching my every move was pretty nerve-racking! I mean, I was glad someone was there...but I was also stressed. You get me? Haha.
It went well, I think I did all right although I definitely made more mistakes than usual. Maybe over the course of this week I can get used to it and start to relax. The first day of doing anything new is always hard. After work I got a haircut (finally) and picked up a library card! I figured I might need one in the near future :)

Tuesday did indeed go better than Monday at work. I was less flustered, though still very nervous. Sweating like a pig the entire time haha. I had three very long phone calls, but got good reviews on all of them. After work I went to the gym, but wasn't really feeling it so only did the elliptical before heading home. Jameson and I had a nice dinner and a relaxing evening.
The rest of the week isn't worth a detailed report...I went to work/training every day, Jameson had work from home and a gig on Friday night. On Thursday I had a bit of a meltdown at work, just because as part of our training we are observed by many different people, and some of the feedback I'd been getting throughout the week was contradictory or confusing. It all just sort of came to a head for me on Thursday. I mean, all that happened was I got frustrated and had to vent about it a little.
But on Friday, I ended up graduating from training one whole week early!! Yay!! It turns out my frustrations were just me putting undue pressure on myself. As usual. Several of my coaches pulled me aside to tell me what a great job I was doing, and one even said my work was "pristine" haha. I think one of the difficult thing for everyone who live-captions is the fact that there WILL be mistakes, every single day, and there's just nothing to be done about it. But now that I'm through with training, I will work hard to overcome my insecurities and perfectionist nature regarding the captions. I'm excited to begin working for real next week!
And therein lies another problem that I've created for myself. I actually enjoy this work. A lot. To the point where I don't want to give it up in favor of the Thing I've been working on. Having this job actually kind of throws a wrench into my plans...I realized this last night as I was trying to fall asleep. Well...we all have hard choices to make in life. I will have to just do my research and make the best choice that I possibly can, and hope it's the right one.
Today is Saturday, and I'm happy to enjoy the day off because after this I'll have two weeks of work in a row x_x.
Jameson has a gig this afternoon/evening, so I will have the house to myself. I've got some small errands to run, and I need to practice for some upcoming Easter gigs (#grateful). And, of course, now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of 2019 regarding my future plans. But other than that my day is free haha.
And now...pictures of my Niece!!! I WILL SHOVE HER ADORABLENESS DOWN YER THROATS!!!
My beautiful sister and her beautiful baby <3
